Awhile ago, I wrote a post about coffee tasting good to almost the last drop. Well that's shifted and now coffee doesn't taste good for most of the drops. I just need a break. I've been drinking matcha as a place-holder. In my anti-extreme-state I haven't QUIT drinking coffee, I'm just not drinking it right now. You should know I've been avoiding the matcha game since 2013 because to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of green tea. That being said, I actually enjoy matcha! I love the freedom it gives me. It's a mix-and-match kind of drink which leaves plenty room for experimenting. I've tried it with hazelnut milk, macadamia nut milk, hemp milk, water and that's just the liquid! Here's what you need to know, how you mix your matcha is up to you! Ill leave you with some ideas and you can get playful with the way you mix it!
10 oz. hot liquid (water, cow milk, nut milk, seed milk or mix it up, part water, part milk. my favorite is 1/2 macadamia nut milk and 1/2 water)
1-1.5 teaspoons high-quality drinking matcha (I used this and I am going to try a few others soon)
1/2 teaspoon ashwagandha
1-2 tablespoons coconut butter
1 teaspoon maca powder (not pictured but I just ordered a big bag from Thrive Market. yay!)
1-3 teaspoons coconut oil
A scoop collagen peptides (this actually has coconut milk powder and vanilla so I've been making mine with water to cut down on sweetness.)
Heat the liquid to a drink able temp. Sift matcha into blender. Add heated liquid. Add the rest of your ingredients. Blend. Pour. Sip.
There are plenty of lists of health benefits for matcha, ashwagandha, and maca powder, not to mention coconut oil. Research them if you are curious! And there are tons of other add-ins you can use in matcha (and smoothies!) like tocos and morniga or something sweet like maple syrup or vanilla. I'll keep you posted on how all this goodness is making me feel, at the moment I still get a coffee headache in the afternoon and feel a little crabby from time to time. I have hope with a bit of detoxing I'll start to feel settled in no time!
