EXPERIMENT: (n) a scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact.
My attempt with this experiment and future experiments is to put effort towards something in my life and to make a measurable discovery about how it works/doesn't work.
About 6 months ago, I read something about letting your body rest 12 hours between dinner and breakfast. I thought the idea was interesting, there were points about letting your body really digest before giving it more food. So I started taking notice about how long my "fasting" between dinner and breakfast were and realized they were naturally 12-14 hours.
My Experimental Process
I am using the worksheet Maddie created, found here. I will record on there what is below. The rest I will record as this experiment unfolds and if I notice any changes.
We typically eat dinner around 5pm or 6pm. I usually eat breakfast around 8am.
Time Frame: 12 days (Started January 19th)
Each day I will fast 16 hours between dinner and breakfast.
I will use the app Zero to record my hours.
I am currently on day 6 and so far I've noticed a small upswing in energy. I am looking forward to this being a little longer than a week so I can get into a natural routine with it. If you decide to try, let me know how it goes! If you've done it, leave me a comment with some benefits you've noticed!
Reason For Intermittent Fasting
I am looking to increase my energy during the day.
I am looking to feel more alert and mentally clear.
I am looking to sleep well.
I am looking to reduce bloating.
I am looking to experience and understand my body in a new way.
I am not restricting any calories, I am not counting any calories, I am not looking to lose weight. I will be eating the same as I eat now, just in a shorter time frame than what I have been doing.
I found this simple article interesting.
