On Friday afternoon, I was desperate to get away. I just wanted some romantic time with my guy, a quaint bed and breakfast, something out of the norm, and a break from the projects and budget constraints of our last two weeks. We've really been in power-down mode, getting projects finished up, and tightening the belt as much as possible to save a little extra money for when the little man cub arrives.
You know when you've had a long run of being good, and you just want to be naughty? Yeah. That was me on Friday. "Let's spend this cash, say fuck it to the to-do list, and blow this popsicle stand!"
However, as I was scrolling through AirBnB trying to come up with a surprise getaway plan, I just wasn't seeing anything that great. I realized, I wanted our apartment. I wanted to rent our apartment in a charming little downtown somewhere, and have an awesome itinerary planned for relaxation and fun. Thus the lightbulb went off.
I bought tickets to the baseball game, cleaned the house, lit candles, turned on some jazz music and made dinner. I wrote Mitch a note, telling him how badass he is in every frickin' way, and laid out the itinerary for our weekend. My only criteria: low stress, Mitch-focused, covering all the love languages, and no projects!

I guess the moral of the story is, we really needed a weekend to relax and have fun. I was more than happy to travel and pay to make that happen, but turns out the recipe for restorative quality time was easiest to make up right here at home.
Hope you're all feeling rested and rejuvenated on this Monday morning!
